In-House Corporate Paralegal & Contract Administrator with Experience in Construction Industry

Parsons currently has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Paralegal & Contract Administrator to join its growing organization in the Oakdale, MN office.  The Paralegal & Contract Administrator will work directly for the General Counsel providing administrative and transactional support in the areas of construction law, employment & labor law, real estate transactions, corporate governance, acquisitions, litigation management and dispute resolution.  The primary responsibilities of the Paralegal & Contract Administrator include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing, analyzing and negotiating all Company contracts to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, General Counsel’s guidelines for contract review, corporate policies and project requirements.  These contracts include, but are not limited to, construction contracts, maintenance and/or service agreements and vendor/lower-tiered subcontract agreements.
  • Drafting and negotiating contractual instruments commensurate with skills and under the direct supervision of General Counsel.
  • Researches, understands and ensures Company is in compliance with all pre-lien notice and licensing requirements for all jurisdictions in which Company conducts business (currently the Company is licensed in over 70 jurisdictions).
  • Supporting General Counsel with all aspects of litigation management and dispute resolution in all matters. This includes, but is not limited to, responding to discovery requests, investigating facts, researching, scheduling and attending meetings, recording meeting minutes, coordinating witness interviews and maintaining all litigation files.
  • Providing General Counsel with a fair amount of administrative/clerical support.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education Requirement:  (1) Bachelor’s degree with a major or minor in paralegal studies, or a paralegal certificate, plus minimum of 4 years’ experience worked as a Paralegal in a legal environment; OR (2) Associates Degree and paralegal certificate, plus minimum of 6 years’ experience worked as a Paralegal in a legal environment.  Candidates who have completed an American Bar Association (“ABA”) approved paralegal education program preferred.
  • Certification as a Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) desirable.
  • Contract and construction law experience with a working to excellent knowledge of contracting concepts required. Basic understanding of public contract acquisition law and regulations also preferred.
  • Working understanding of commercial insurance common in the construction industry required.
  • Expert in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required and willingness to learn other software programs required.
  • General familiarity with contract software management programs highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of employment and labor law also highly desirable.
  • Must have vehicle and valid driver’s license (routine travel between Oakdale and Fridley offices required).

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of privileged, confidential and/or sensitive matters; follows professional ethical guidelines and consults with General Counsel when appropriate.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and as a team in high pressure situations.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and complete numerous tasks under time constraints.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when assisting on legal matters.
  • Able to operate standard office equipment such as computer, photocopiers, fax machines and scanners; excellent typing speed and accuracy.
