We currently have an excellent summer internship opportunity for a motivated Safety Intern in our Minneapolis office.  The Safety Intern will assist in administering our safety programs, maintain compliance with all federal and state OSHA & MSHA regulations, and provide additional support to local construction sites. The duties of a Safety Intern include, but are not limited to:

• Documentation management of training records, safety recognition program, and DOT files.
• Conduct jobsite audits for recognition and correction of safety hazards, and safe work method compliance.
• Develop training materials for field employees.
• Inspection of fall protection materials and systems in tool department.

Qualifications:

• Education: Actively pursuing or completed 2 year or 4 year degree in safety, construction management, risk management or similar discipline.
• Experience: Construction experience preferred.

Successful candidate will possess:

• Good communication skills including writing/grammar.
• Computer experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to be self-starting and self-motivated.
• Ability to have the initiative to ask questions and implement what is learned into action.
• Completion of OSHA 30 course preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Administration duties in an office setting with frequent sitting and computer work.  Inspection of safety equipment includes pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50#.  Navigation of construction sites includes walking, ladder climbing, kneeling and squatting.  Jobsite environments include uneven walking surfaces, heights, weather, and temperature extremes.
