We currently have excellent opportunities for an experienced HDD Equipment Operator to join our growing organization in our Fargo, ND office. At MEI, the position of Equipment Operator will be responsible for the operation of all equipment necessary for the installation of electrical and communications civil infrastructure throughout North Dakota, South Dakota, and Western Minnesota.

 

The primary responsibilities of a HDD Equipment Operator include, but are not limited to:

  • Operate horizontal directional drill rig (HDD)
  • Operate excavation equipment (backhoe, trencher, hydro-vac, etc.)
  • Operate and maintain vehicles and equipment safely at all times
  • Report vehicle and equipment maintenance requirements to construction manager
  • Repair damaged equipment as directed by the project superintendent
  • Maintain continuous and profitable working relationships with customers
  • Participate in weekly toolbox safety meetings
  • Document deficiencies in safety practices/equipment to the project manager

 

Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of related experience as a horizontal directional drill rig operator and backhoe operator
  • Various related equipment operating experience required, such as trencher, boring machine, mini excavator, skid steer, etc.
  • Must have a current, valid Class A CDL and a clean MVR
  • Must be able to travel in the North Dakota, South Dakota, and Western Minnesota areas with occasional overnight stay as necessary
