ecs is a separately branded business unit that performs work nationally for customers on a variety of projects.  They provide a life-cycle of services including consulting, engineering, construction, commissioning, training, and sustainability.  In addition to all things electrical, ecs also provides services for Fire Suppression, Fire Alarm, Sprinkler, Security, Card Access, and Building Automation systems.

 

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a motivated Project Engineer II to join our ecs Division in our Coon Rapids office.  The Project Engineer II is responsible for data collection, installations, repairs, testing, and inspecting duties to ensure equipment, systems, and facilities are functioning according to its design objectives, specifications, and/or building codes.  In addition, the Project Engineer II is responsible for managing the project to its job completion, quality control, problem resolution, coordination, job communication, and client satisfaction activities.  Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Arc Flash Data Collection: collect field electrical data as instructed by office project lead including but not limited to:
    • Equipment: manufacturer, make, model, voltage rating, ampere rating, AIC ratings, etc.
  • Conductors: sizes, quantity of paralleled runs, conductor lengths, etc.
  • Thoroughly review and understand the drawings, specifications, and testing/inspections plan for each project as communicated by the office project lead.
  • Perform testing and inspections for the following building systems and their interdependencies based on applicable codes and specific design criteria:
    • Electrical power distribution and lighting
    • HVAC
    • Elevator
    • Fire alarm
    • Fire sprinkler and suppression
    • Security
    • Access control
    • Building automation
  • Report generation: Organize data as required for report generation after analysis is complete.
  • Work with the office project lead to document and continually refine test and inspection procedures.
  • Keep informed of new NFPA codes, technology, maintenance, testing, and commissioning standards, as well as techniques and practices.
  • Provide technical support as necessary to project engineers, assistant project managers, project managers, senior project managers, the President, and customers.
  • Provide training and technical mentoring to staff as required.
  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with clients.
  • Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with other employees of the company.
  • Survey job sites as needed for scope of work and to determine the most cost effective and efficient plan possible.
  • Travel to assigned projects which may involve international travel.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education:  High School required with relevant trade schooling or electrical licensing.
  • Experience:  Minimum five (5) years of experience installing, servicing, and/or managing electrical and low voltage systems.

 

Successful candidates will possess:

  • Familiarity with the following building systems:
    • Electrical power distribution and lighting
    • HVAC
    • Elevator
    • Fire alarm
    • Fire sprinkler and suppression
    • Security
    • Access control
    • Building automation
  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
  • Effective communication, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills.
  • The ability to read, interpret and understand electrical and fire contracts, plans, blueprints and specifications.
  • Valid driver's license required.
